What Happens After JEE Main Result? Here Is the Full Roadmap
While you wait for the result, it is a good idea to understand what comes next so you are not caught off guard. Here is the complete roadmap after JEE Main Session 2 Result 2026 is declared:
  • JEE Advanced 2026 — The top 2.5 lakh qualifiers (based on the best score across both sessions) will be eligible to register for JEE Advanced 2026 for IIT admissions. Registration will open shortly after the result.
  • JoSAA Counselling — Candidates who qualify for JEE Main but not JEE Advanced can participate in JoSAA counselling for admission to 32 NITs, 26 IIITs, and 40 GFTIs. JoSAA counselling is expected to begin from June 2, 2026.
  • State-Level Counselling — You can also apply to state engineering colleges using your JEE Main score through your state's counselling process.
  • Best Score Policy — NTA will pick your best NTA score between Session 1 and Session 2 for calculating your final All India Rank. So even if Session 1 went better for you, that score will be used.
